3 idiots Box Office Collection: 3 Idiots movie is a Bollywood superhit blockbuster cinema directed by Rajkumar Hirani released in December, 2009. This year(2019) , it marks tenth anniversary. This film is based on the social pressures under an Indian Education System. The film has parallel narrative set in two different time zones. Producer of the film was Vidhu Vinod Chopra and the film had a release under Vinod Chopra Films. It is the highest grossing film during its opening weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) in India. This film was not successful in India only but also had good business collection in East Asian Markets such as China and Japan.
During a flight about to take off, Farhan Qureshi, a passenger in the flight, comes to know about location of Ranchoddas, his college time best friend about whom he has been looking for since graduation day. In the pretext of heart attack, he manages to return back the flight at the airport. He meets Raju Rastogi (Another best friend from college days). Both leaves for Chaturlingam who had informed Farhan about Ranchoddas. They meet at the water tank of their college, a common place where they used to hang out. Chatur informs him Ranchoddas who is not in contact after graduation, lives in Shimla and shows photo image as proof.

(10 Years back...)Farhan Qureshi and Raju Rastogi begin their graduation at a prestigious 'Imperial College of Engineering' (ICE) in Delhi. Ranchoddas ("Rancho") is their new Roommate. Farhan is there to appease his father by sacrificing his passion for photography. Raju is there to pursue engineering, then get job and end his family's financial problems.But Rancho is complete opposite to them. He loves science and technology. Inside the campus there is pressure of education on every one. Insitute's Director "Viru Sahastrabuddhe" aka "Virus" has been the key element and driving force for the pressures of semester examinations upon the students. Virus is punctual, discipline and strict. Rancho often land in argument and conflict with virus over various matters in the campus. Chatur (nick named Silencer for fart habit) used to be an arrogant Ugandan Tamil Student with little knowledge of Hindi obsessed with topping the exams.
One day, Joy Lobo, a senior student committed suicide by hanging himself. His suicide was due to depression after virus informed his father that he will be unable to graduate due to the delay in his project submission. Rancho criticises virus for the educational pressure and claims joy's death is a murder.
Somedays later, while gate crashing into a wedding reception, the trio find themself unknowingly attending Virus's eldest daughter's wedding. There they meet Pia (Virus's youngest daughter) and a student at the city medical college. When virus spots trio, he summons Raju and farhan and warns about the consequences once they pass out from the college as Ranchoddas being rich kid nothing would harm even if he fails to pass in Engineering.
This affects Raju and raju shifts to chatur's room.
On teachers day, chatur is supposed to deliver speech in Hindi in front of the college but Ranchoddas changes the words in the speech letter which results in humiliation to chatur. Being drunk chatur lands in argument with Ranchoddas and challenges him who is going to more successful after ten years.
(Farhan's Reminisces ends / Back to present) They reach at Shimla and manages to find out Ranchoddas's location. And they find, father of ranchoddas has passed out. To their astonishment, the guy who had studied with them, is not the same guy ranchoddas they met here. After interrogation (funny way), ranchoddas (the other guy in the house) confesses, the man who studied in their college was his late domestic helps son "Chote" - an orphan kid who was brilliant in studies. He pursued engineering and handed over him graduation certificate because of which he runs construction tenders in the city. He shares the address of Chote who is a school teacher in Ladakh. They decide to head to ladakh but chatur is dieing to meet Phunsuk Wangdu, to crack a business deal. Phunsukh wangdu is a world renowned scientist who had 400 patents in his account. Incidentally, in Shimla virus's youngest daughter is marrying some other guy. They manage to take Pia along with them from her wedding and they head to ladakh. Farhan reminisces again...
(Back to college days..)One evening, Raju's father becomes serious and rancho with the help of farhan and Pia saves raju's father life. Raju reconciles with his friends while Pia falls in love with Rancho.
One night, Rancho, Raju and Farhan break into the Sahastrabuddhe residence so that Rancho can propose to Pia. Raju and Farhan pee at the gate of virus's residence. As the trio escape, Virus recognizes Raju and threatens to expel him unless he writes a letter implicating Rancho for the break-in. Unwilling to betray Rancho or disappoint his family, Raju attempts to suicide from jumping off the window and ends up in a coma. With intensive care and support from his friends, Raju recovers and appears for interview. On the other hand, Rancho has posted Farhan's letter to his favourite wild life photographer Andre Istvan, who offers him assistant job proposal. Farhan hesitantly speaks about his dream to his father, who though reluctant at first but allows him.
Virus is pisssed off by Rancho, Raju and Farhan and sets a difficult final exam to fail Raju. Pia realises and to help the trio, reveals about her father's intention to Rancho. Rancho and farhan manages to steal the question paper but virus figures it out. He expels them. Pia confronts her father about her brothers suicide who committed because he failed to land on her father's expections and failed in the Engineering exam.
On the same night, it was heavy raining and roads are blocked. There were no transportation facility at all in the city. And virus's elder daughter goes into labour. Rancho and other student user their engineering knowledge to make a medical machine which helps to deliver the baby safely under the video guidance from Pia. A grateful Virus finally acknowledges Rancho as an extraordinary student, and revokes their expulsion. On graduation day, Rancho suddenly disappears shortly after the ceremony ends.

There has been rumours about possible of making sequel to the superhit blockbuster Hindi film 3 idiots. In one of interview, Abhijat Joshi has confirmed they have ideas on working on sequel for the film. But they are busy with the screenplay of Munnabhai MBBS. Personally Abhijat Joshi would prefer to work on sequel of PK.
